Explosion Proof Switch Racks
Centralised motor control in classified hazardous areas requires purpose-built explosion proof motor control centres (MCCs) or switch racks pre-engineered assemblies that group all motor starters, feeder protection, and control interfaces into a single, site-ready skid. Team Switchgear and Control LLC designs and manufactures Ex d and Ex e certified MCC and switch rack assemblies in Dubai, delivering fully assembled, FAT-tested units that minimise site installation time and eliminate the interface risk of individual panel supply.
- Ex d MCC assemblies multi-motor control centres with individual starter/feeder modules in certified flameproof housings
- Ex e MCC assemblies increased safety enclosure format for Zone 1/2 with safe area electronics in Ex i barriers or Ex e terminals
- Withdrawable module MCCs each motor starter on a draw-out cassette for live module replacement without panel shutdown
- Fixed module MCCs cost-effective format for installations where individual module withdrawal is not required
- Power and Control Centre (PCC) combinations MCC and distribution board combined in a single skid
- Pre-wired skid assemblies complete with cable tray, conduit, earthing, and marshalling terminations, tested as a unit
- Containerised MCC rooms climate-controlled E-house format with Ex-certified equipment for remote offshore or desert deployments
Engineering Highlights
- Designed to IEC 61439-2 (LV switchgear assemblies) in addition to IEC 60079 Ex standards
- Motor ratings from 0.37 kW to 630 kW within a single MCC assembly
- Full short-circuit withstand calculation and internal arc classification on request
- PROFIBUS, PROFINET, Modbus, or DeviceNet intelligent motor controller interfaces available
- Siemens SIRIUS ACT intelligent motor management (direct starter, soft starter, or MMS options)
- Integrated power quality metering kWh, power factor, harmonics per feeder or per MCC
What is the lead time for a complete explosion proof MCC from Team Switchgear?
A complete Ex MCC project including design, procurement, assembly, testing, and documentation typically requires 12–16 weeks from receipt of approved engineering drawings. For large multi-section MCCs or complex PCC combinations, 16–20 weeks should be planned. We recommend engaging our engineering team at the FEED stage to ensure schedule alignment. Expedited schedules can be discussed depending on current workshop loading.
Can you integrate BARTEC field devices into the MCC control circuits?
Yes. As an authorised BARTEC partner in the UAE, we integrate BARTEC’s certified Ex d, Ex e, and Ex i field devices including pilot devices, pushbutton operators, indicator lamps, and terminal equipment directly into our MCC and switch rack assemblies. BARTEC components are specified by many major Oil & Gas operators and carry the required ATEX and IECEx certifications for Zone 1 applications.
