Electrical Panels, SCADA & Automation for Utilities and Government – UAE
The UAE’s utility and government sector encompasses water production and distribution, wastewater treatment, district cooling, power generation and transmission, street lighting infrastructure, solar and renewable energy, and public building facilities management. These assets share a common set of requirements – high reliability, compliance with UAE authority standards (DEWA, FEWA, SEWA, ADDC, Abu Dhabi DMA), 24/7 operational uptime, and increasingly, remote monitoring and SCADA integration for centralised operations management.
Team Switchgear and Control LLC manufactures and supplies the full range of electrical panels and control systems for UAE utility and government infrastructure – from individual feeder pillars and metered distribution boards for public facilities through to complete SCADA-integrated pump station automation systems with remote telemetry, RTU panels, and PLC-based process control. We work directly with DEWA-approved EPC contractors, main contractors on government infrastructure programmes, and FM companies managing government building portfolios.

What is an RTU and how does it differ from a PLC in a pump station?
A Remote Terminal Unit (RTU) and a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) are both microprocessor-based field controllers, but they are optimised for different applications. An RTU is designed primarily for remote monitoring and telemetry – it collects data from field instruments (level sensors, pressure transmitters, flow meters), performs simple control logic (start/stop pump based on level), and transmits data to a central SCADA system via communications links such as 4G LTE, GPRS, or fibre. RTUs are designed for low-power, unattended operation at remote sites with minimal maintenance requirements and robust communications in areas with limited infrastructure. A PLC is optimised for fast, reliable, complex local control logic – sequential control, interlocking, PID loop control, and process automation. For larger, more complex pump stations or water treatment facilities, a PLC (Siemens S7-1200 or S7-1500) with a SCADA interface is the preferred architecture. Team Switchgear supplies both – standalone RTU panels for simple remote telemetry sites and full PLC-based pump station automation with SCADA integration for larger facilities.
What solar skid control panels do you supply for UAE utility applications?
Team Switchgear supplies and manufactures solar-powered skid control panels for remote utility and Oil & Gas applications where grid power is unavailable or impractical. The ATEX solar-powered pump control skid we have developed uses photovoltaic solar panels for power generation, a battery bank for overnight and low-light operation, a solar charge controller, and a custom-designed explosion proof (Ex d) control panel for Zone 1 classified areas. For non-hazardous utility applications such as remote irrigation pump stations, telemetry sites, and rural pump boosters, standard (non-ATEX) solar skid panels are available with the same quality of design and manufacture. Solar skid panels are designed to match the load profile of the controlled equipment – pump size, duty cycle, and communication power requirements determine the solar and battery sizing. We provide full load calculations, battery autonomy calculations, and panel documentation as part of the project scope.
