Explosion Proof Junction Boxes
Wiring terminations in classified hazardous areas require certified explosion proof junction boxes that eliminate the risk of ignition from internal arcs, sparks, or hot surfaces. Team Switchgear and Control LLC supplies and custom-assembles ATEX and IECEx certified explosion proof junction boxes in Dubai available in GRP, cast aluminium, and stainless steel for Zone 1, Zone 2, Division 1, and Division 2 applications across UAE and GCC Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, and Offshore projects.
Explosion Proof Junction Boxes in UAE Ex d and Ex e, ATEX & IECEx Certified
Enclosure Types and Materials
• GRP (Glass Reinforced Polyester) lightweight, non-corrosive, ideal for marine, offshore, and coastal environments; Ex e certification
• Cast aluminium standard for onshore Oil & Gas; excellent strength-to-weight ratio; Ex d or Ex e
• Stainless steel 316L for corrosive process environments, chemical plants, food and pharma; Ex d or Ex e
• Available in standard catalogue sizes or custom dimensions for high cable count applications
• IP66 and IP67 ratings as standard; IP68 available for subsea or immersion applications
• ATEX Category 2G (Zone 1/2) and IECEx certified across the full range
Assembly Services We Provide
We don’t just supply empty enclosures we assemble and test complete junction box units ready for site installation:
• Terminal block installation Phoenix Contact, Weidmuller, or equivalent; DIN rail mounted
• Earth bar, earth bolt, and internal earthing links
• Certified Ex d cable glands (metric or NPT) sized to specified cable ODs
• Stopping plugs in all unused cable entries
• Internal label and tag number per instrument index
• Wiring looms for multi-instrument marshalling JBs
• ATEX/IECEx documentation package with each assembled JB
• Pressure test certificate (if IP67/IP68 required)
BARTEC Junction Box Range
As an authorised BARTEC partner in the UAE, we stock and assemble from BARTEC’s certified junction box range including the GUB (GRP), GUJ (aluminium), and GUS (stainless steel) series. BARTEC JBs are specified by ADNOC, Aramco, Shell, and most major UAE operators, and carry IECEx Ex e and Ex d certification for IIC gas group.
What is the difference between Ex d and Ex e junction boxes, and which should I use?
Ex d (flameproof) junction boxes are designed to contain any internal explosion and prevent it from propagating to the surrounding atmosphere they are suitable for Zone 1 and Zone 0 (with appropriate category) where arcing equipment is inside. Ex e (increased safety) junction boxes are designed to eliminate ignition sources entirely through enhanced construction no arcing components inside, higher creepage and clearance distances, terminals with locking design. Ex e is suitable for Zone 1/2 and is typically the preferred choice for simple cable termination JBs as it is more cost-effective. Ex d is required where the junction box contains switching equipment, relays, or electronics capable of arcing.
Can you supply junction boxes pre-assembled with cable glands and terminals to our instrument index?
Yes this is a standard service. We accept your instrument cable schedule or I/O list, size and select the enclosure, specify the glands to each cable OD, and assemble and label the complete unit. Each JB is supplied with a drawing showing internal terminal allocation, the cable gland schedule, and the IECEx/ATEX documentation package. This approach eliminates site-assembly errors and ensures every JB arrives certified and ready to connect.
